The idea of the work came from the feeling of quite literally emerging out of the second wave lockdown restrictions. The sentence 'here we are still standing' kept repeating in my head as a kind of survivor's guilt or confusion. One of the dancers turned up to rehearsal one day, wearing a pair of Nike pants with LOST FUTURE written down the side with splashes of white space matter. It felt fitting to the world of work. The irony of the future the pandemic lost us, whilst simultaneously gifting us a chance for a life perspective shift. We searched for new movement vocabulary that captured a modern essence offering a new code. We had lots of conversations around what dance could offer NOW and invented our new imagined future landscape in movement and imagery.
